Summary: A look at the instinctive behaviors that draw men and women together to form lasting, loving relationships

The Mating Game, by Lyndon McGill, is a groundbreaking look at the intentional and instinctive behaviors that draw men and women together to form lasting, loving relationships and how we can utilize our knowledge of the male/female relationship to help repair and understand the nuances within our own relationships.

Dr. McGill discusses the four basic urges of human behavior and how these urges motivate human behavior, both independently and as part of a relationship with the opposite sex.  He continues to discuss the driving forces of male urges and female urges and how as partners, both sexes can work toward living a cohesive and mutually beneficial partnership.  While the book does intertwine relationship case studies, the vast majority of the book is written through fact and extensive research.  As the book delves deeper into the human psyche of both sexes, it also allows the reader to formulate and gain knowledge about personal relationship successes and failures.  After reading the book, readers will have gained valuable insight and secrets of how they can maintain, develop, or renew strength in their own relationship.

As a reader, I would have liked more case studies and more in-depth personal stories but overall, the extensive research was intriguing and insightful for anyone who is interested in human behavior, particularly involving the male / female relationship.   Dr. McGill certainly struck a chord with this book and provided such a wealth of information that this is a book the reader will want to re-read to fully digest everything. I rated the book 4-stars.
