Seth Ulinski is the talented author of Amazing Heights: How Short Guys Stand Tall. Today I share my exclusive author interview with Seth. Ulinski shares how he began his writing journey and his goals for the future- enjoy!
When did you know you wanted to be a writer?
In the 5th grade I won a Young Author's award but it wasn't until I was working as an IT industry analyst that I realized how much I enjoyed writing.
Can you share your journey to becoming a published author?
It was about 10 months from when I started the manuscript to publishing the book. I left my job about two months into the process so I could give the project my full attention. Challenging and fun - a great character builder and life experience.
What do you find to be the biggest challenge, as an author?
Many times, I felt like I was on my own island. However, there are people ready and willing to help if you simply ask.
Finish These Sentences:
I am most grateful for...my health. I was fortunate to survive a car accident as a kid and have managed a few other setbacks. Without good health, life isn't much fun.
If I could give my 18 year-old self one piece of advice it would be...put down the beer, pick up the book...ask that girl out for a date.
My favorite thing about being a writer is...the ability to describe something 100 different ways
My least favorite thing about being a writer is...the ability to describe something 100 different ways
My goals for the future are...becoming a better public speaker
I love living a creative life because...it frees the mind
The last book I read was...Predictably Irrational: The Hidden Forces That Shape Our Decisions by Dan Ariely
My favorite book, ever, is...The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
Outside of writing, my favorite hobby is...anything fitness-related (e.g. running, weight-training, yoga, hiking)
The most important thing to do if you want to achieve your goals is...know thyself. If you know your strengths and weaknesses, you can plan accordingly.
