I'm looking forward to reading and reviewing Retire Like a Pro: Your Guide to Investing, Retirement and More, by Keaton Pearce (book review coming soon!). I recently enjoyed an exclusive author interview with Keaton and share it with you here- enjoy!

Tell us a little about yourself...
My name is Keaton Pearce, and I live in Anderson SC with my wife Kyla and our dog Finn. I went to the University of Kentucky with a degree in Communications. I am a writer part time and an Amazon FBA Seller part time.

When did you know you wanted to be a writer?
I think to a degree I have always know. I have always loved researching new topics and helping people with that research. It was that love that propelled me into non-fiction writing.

Can you share your journey to becoming a published author?
Honestly, I think my "journey" is very cliché, but I had been toying around with the idea of writing a book for some time, and I had told my wife about it. I continued to find reasons why I shouldn't, but finally, she gave me the push I needed. I wrote my first book "Retire Like a Pro" in about a month. I then found a great editor online and proceeded to publish my book as a Kindle book on Amazon.
What do you find to be the biggest challenge, as an author?
My biggest challenge is staying focused. Writing is great because you have limitless possibilities of things to write about. This is good and bad. It's great because there is always something interesting to research and write about, but on the flip side, if you don't stay focused you will end up with some great ideas but a lot of unfinished books.

What do you find most rewarding, as an author?
For me, as a non-fiction writer, it gives me a great sense of joy and pride knowing that my books can help improve people's lives in some way.

Share with us a daily habit of yours that helps you reach your goals.
One habit that I have to stick to is when I first wake up in the morning, I have to write at least 500 words, just to get my mind right for the rest of the day.

What is one piece of advice you would share with an aspiring author?
I would say stick with it. It's true there are some times when your book idea just doesn't have the readership you thought it might. However, I think those times are very rare in today's world. With the internet, you now have access to people In every genre and sub-genre out there; you just have to persevere to get your book in front of the right eyes.
I am most grateful for... My wife, Kyla.

If I could give my 18-year-old self one piece of advice, it would be... “Quit being such a moron and take your education seriously.”

My favorite thing about being a writer is... the creative license it allows me.

My least favorite thing about being a writer is... the rejection.

My goals for the future are... to write at least two nonfiction books a year and maybe a fiction book also.

I love living a creative life because... it allows my mind to expand and I don’t feel like im in a "bubble."

The last book I read was... “Murder On the Orient Express”

My favorite book, ever, is...”The Murder of Roger Ackroyd”

Outside of writing, my favorite hobby is... woodworking

The most important thing to do if you want to achieve your goals is... make your goals clear and stick to them until you complete them.
Do you have any New Years Resolutions for 2017? Write one short fiction book in 2017.

Tell us about your books (genre, where we can find them, etc.)
You can find my book “Retire Like a Pro” on Amazon
