I recently enjoyed an exclusive interview with Jean Paul Zogby, author of The Power of Time Perception. You can view my review of his book, HERE. My interview with the author, below...
Tell us a little about yourself...
I am the author of The Power of Time Perception. I also do research in Astrophysics, compose music for Ads, video games, and I am real estate development expert.
A husband and father of two lovely daughters and a son, I reside in Dubai where I am the CEO on a multi-billion construction project.
When did you know you wanted to be a writer?
A few years ago, I started thinking about how time seems to speed up as we grow older. Most of my friends shared the same experience. So I started researching the subject in Neuroscience and Cognitive Psychology, and thought of writing a book about my finding that will help people understand time experience.
Can you share your journey to becoming a published author?
My journey has just begun. This is my first self-published book. I have previously published research papers in Astrophysics (Formation of Exo-Planetary Solar Systems), but this is my first non-fiction book.
What do you find most rewarding, as an author?
The best thing is when someone reads your book and sends you a thank you note about an insight or self-help idea he got out of the book.
Share with us a daily habit of yours, that helps you reach your goals.
I set a regular time to write or compose every day (almost every day). Research your subjects carefully and do not worry about what you write, just keep doing it. There is plenty of time to edit and fix things.
What is one piece of advice you would share with an aspiring author?
The best advice is to grow your mailing list and reader fans. These people will always support you and help you promote your work.
Finish these sentences:
I am most grateful for...my family for their endless love and support
If I could give my 18 year-old self one piece of advice it would be...Don’t waste time. It is so precious and can never be re-gained. Make every second count by living life the fullest, enjoy every moment. Think big and do not be afraid to take risks.
My favorite thing about being a writer is... the ability to spread my thoughts to so many people and contribute, in a very small way, to make people’s life better.
My least favorite thing about being a writer is...I’d rather be writing than focusing on promoting my books.
My goals for the future are...I am always looking for new challenges. Brainstorming ideas about my new book with my friends and fans.
I love living a creative life because...creativity breeds novelty, and novel experiences is what enriches life, slows down time, and makes it fulfilling
The last book I read was... Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi
My favorite book, ever, is... I don’t really have any favorites, but there are a few dozen books that I highly value.
Outside of writing, my favorite hobby is... composing music and Latin dancing.
The most important thing to do if you want to achieve your goals is...
Do one thing a t a time, set a goal, hone your skills to meet the challenge, and give it your best shot.
