Treadmill Workouts: 90 Treadmill Workouts for Every Runner is a book I come back to over and over again. Years ago, I raced long-distance competitively. Today, I run for the health benefits and for the enjoyment of it. I'm always looking for new ways to spice up my running schedule, especially during the chilly winters when I log a lot of miles on the treadmill. Last week, for example, our roads were covered in an inch of ice. I tried to run outside and nearly fell a number of times. I headed back to the treadmill and found interesting workouts in Beatty's book. The workouts in the book are fun and any level of runner can do them- from beginner to elite. That's a great part about this book, that literally any runner can pick it up and find something in it for them. You can make the prescribed workouts fit exactly to your level of fitness and to how you feel on any given day.
The book offers 90 treadmill workouts in total. Workouts are designed for every level runner; beginning, intermediate and advanced. Each workout is based off of your goal (5K, 10K, ½ Marathon, or Marathon) time. In addition to offering 90 creative treadmill workouts, race pace charts are also provided that include treadmill pace conversions. I highly recommend this book to you if you ever find yourself running on a treadmill--- or if you're interested in starting to run on a treadmill to get in shape. A great book to have by your side! Author of Treadmill Workouts: 90 Treadmill Workouts for Every Runner, Amy Beatty is a treadmill enthusiast. A former Division I NCAA Collegiate track and cross country runner, Beatty utilized treadmill training to prepare her for the NCAA Championships 10,000 meter race. She continues to turn to the treadmill while training for marathons and endurance triathlons. With seventeen years of treadmill training under her belt, Beatty has managed to only fall off the treadmill once. Amy Beatty is a long distance runner, triathlete, CrossFit enthusiast, ACSM Personal Trainer and Certified Spinning Instructor.
