Tiny Beautiful Things: Advice on Love and Life from Dear Sugar, written by Cheryl Strayed is one of my favorite books. The book is filled with humor, insight, compassion and above all, honesty. The book is an absolute treasure. It is composed of short chapters, each a question and answer session with Strayed (from a column she wrote, called Dear Sugar). Her words address the human condition in the most beautiful way. As the description shares: "Life can be hard: your lover cheats on you; you lose a family member; you can’t pay the bills—and it can be great: you’ve had the hottest sex of your life; you get that plum job; you muster the courage to write your novel. Sugar—the once-anonymous online columnist at The Rumpus, now revealed as Cheryl Strayed, author of the bestselling memoir Wild—is the person thousands turn to for advice."
Cheryl Strayed is a talented, powerful writer. The stories can be read all at once or one at a time (and in any order). Tiny Beautiful Things also makes a great gift for loved ones. In the book, Strayed addresses stories of human suffering and growth. Her replies to the questions asked of Dear Sugar allow the reader to view problems from various points of view- which can be incredibly eye-opening. If you enjoy self-help/advice books, this is a must read. I rated the book 5-stars and highly recommend grabbing a copy for yourself!
