Author Abigail Osborne's debut novel, The Puppet Master was in my hands in this weekend. If you enjoy psychological suspense/thriller books, check this one out. The fiction thriller creatively explores the concept of manipulation. "Manipulated by fear and love...could you take back the strings of control?"Intrigued? Read on... A brief overview of the book: Billie is clearly disturbed by something in her past. She avoids contact with anyone and lives alone. But then, Billie meets Adam. And we (the readers) are taken on a three part journey: when Billie and Adam meet, their childhood stories, and present day. I was drawn to the story from the book's back cover. When I started reading, I was pulled in even more, and quickly. The first part of the book keeps you guessing and wanting more. We're given enough of the story to be intrigued in this first half of the book, and to keep turning the pages. It seemed I couldn't flip the pages quite fast enough. Then, in the second half of the book, the reader begins figuring out what is happening in the main characters (Billie and Adam) lives. The second half of the book continues the fast pace, true to any good psychological thriller. The Puppet Master is not short on drama or surprising moments. Overall, The Puppet Master is intricately weaved and an interesting story. The book is certainly not for the faint of heart. If you enjoy dark, disturbing psychological thrillers, this book is for you. I rated this book four out of five stars. (Personally, I'm not much for dark and disturbing books.) That being said, this was a well told story and an excellent debut novel for Abigail Osborne. An important disclaimer to readers: *The Puppet Master contains issues of childhood sexual abuse and that this could be incredibly triggering for some readers. Please be careful if you think that you may be affected by reading about this subject.* AUTHOR INFO Author Abigail Osborne shares: "I was born in the Lake District and have moved all around the UK since then. I currently live with my husband in the West Midlands and our two cats who think swinging of the curtains like Tarzan is normal. I studied English Literature at University but it took four years after I finished University to realise how much I loved writing. The Puppet Master is my first novel but it won't be my last."
