My favorite Agatha Christie novel is And Then There Were None. To be honest, that was the first of Christie's novels I'd read...and I loved it. But this review is about another of Christie's books...A Caribbean Mystery. The book is part of the Miss Marple series (#10), although you certainly don't have to read the other Miss Marple books to enjoy this one as it can be read entirely as a stand-alone novel, too.
If you enjoy mystery books and stories that keep you guessing, I recommend trying an Agatha Christie novel if you haven't already done so. In A Caribbean Mystery, Miss Marple is away on holiday in the Caribbean sunshine - along with many other vacation goers. However, paradise was not as it seemed. While on holiday Miss Marple meets a man who peaks her curiosity by telling her an odd story about an unsolved murder and he begins to show her a photograph to go along with his story - only, he never fully shows her the photo because something behind Miss Marple catches his eye and spooks him so much that he quickly puts the photograph away and begins talking about another subject entirely. That night, the man who had been telling her the odd story, dies. And Miss Marple suspects it wasn't of natural causes. Naturally, Miss Marple begins to subtly investigate other vacation goers - she wants to find out what really happened to the man who suddenly passed away. The book follows Miss Marple through the investigations and as the reader, I found myself very curious - wanting her to solve the mystery!
I recommend A Caribbean Mystery if you enjoy Agatha Christie books. I also recommend the book if you enjoy mystery books, too. I rated the book 4-stars. I felt the start of the book was a little slow, but once the story began to unfold, I was enthralled and really enjoyed the book.
