I’ve worked a lot of jobs. I’ve worked outside. In cubicles. In offices. At home. From my car. On a river. At a university. In schools. In kennels. In medicine. In food. In the woods. Behind a camera. With children. With senior citizens. In academia. And for world class jerks. I’ve been bored beyond belief. I’ve been exhausted from extremely long commutes. I’ve watched the excruciatingly slow minutes tick on the clock, knowing I had to put in my time and keep my derriere in my seat until the end of the scheduled day (even though there wasn’t a lick of work in sight). I’ve cleaned urinals. I’ve picked through trash. I’ve scrubbed gates and floors on my hands and knees using a toothbrush.
On the flip side, I’ve found what I love. It was with me all along. The difference was, I finally opened my eyes and took notice. I didn’t change anything about who I was, or am. I just let myself (finally) be that person; and that’s when everything began to take shape. I’m here to help you find what you love to do and to encourage you to begin (or continue) your journey to your best life. Whether you’re nineteen or eighty-five, it’s never too late to start living a life you love. You're awesome, so be awesome. Small tweaks and everyday attitudes and actions make a big difference. Discover how to live your best life by utilizing the gifts already inside of you.
If you want to win in sports and in life, you have to show up. Sports have the ability to take us places and provide us with experiences that mimic the heart and soul of what it means to really live. Athletics teach us that we don’t have to be born with specific traits and qualities to be successful; rather, we can develop these habits. When we put in the work, the results will come. The small things are often not glamorous and do not come with applause, but they do come with plenty of rewards. Sports teach us that life is lived in the details. When we begin to pay attention to how we walk, talk and think, when we pay attention to those seemingly mundane tasks, our world begins to transform.
We can pursue greatness every day of our lives. We just have to decide to do it. Have you decided? Do you want to learn from amazing athletes? Are you ready to pursue greatness?

"5-Stars! A great book that will motivate you and make you think! I just finished this book, it's full of life lessons from the author and examples of how others have taken obstacles and made a better path for themselves through their own will. This is a book I will keep on my shelf, you can literally pick it up and read any chapter on it's own for a quick fill of motivation. As a bonus each chapter has questions at the end, so you aren't just reading. The author forces you to stop and think. I really enjoyed this book." -Amazon reader (Be Awesome: How to Live Your Best Life)
"Reading Be Awesome: How to Live Your Best Life, and enjoying it! I do inspirational reading while riding my exercise bike in the morning, taking in multiple sources, during my up to half an hour on the bike." -Maria Corley Thompson, author of Letting Go
"'Your attitude is everything.' One of the many simple truths inside this wonderful book by Stacey. The balance between simple advice and heartfelt personal stories combine here to create a book that is a must-have for anyone either thinking about changing their circumstances or already taking action. If you are scared of stepping out into the unknown or your inner voice is telling you it's too risky or too hard to make a change, read this book first. Full of inspirational insights and real life tips I highly recommend this book." -Jade Harley, author of The Adventures of Lola
"I’ve read a number of books about how to live a more positive and more fulfilling life, and this is definitely one of the best. The book works so well because:
(1) The author draws from examples in her own life, which gives this book a real honesty and authenticity to it. (2) The book has excellent flow and readability. I devoured it in three evenings, and I never normally read books that quickly. (3) The book contains a number of well-chosen quotes, many of which I hadn’t come across before. (4) The book really gets across the point that there’s no such thing as an “overnight success”. To achieve things in life requires hard work, resillience and dedication. (5) A part of the book discusses the power of positive affirmation; for example, the use of encouraging mantras. For me, reading this book served as a positive affirmation. (6) The author doesn’t just write books about how to live a more positive and fulfilling life; she is out living a positive and fulfilling life (for example, she is making a big difference through the work of the animal shelter that she has co-founded). I think this is why this book really worked for me.
This isn’t just someone telling you how to live a more awesome life based (solely) on research that they have conducted; this is someone who is telling you how to live a more awesome life based on the experiences that they have had. If you’re currently working hard to achieve something and need a shot of encouragement, you have to read this book! An excellent read." -Helen Kneeling, author of 200 Very Short Stories
"5-Stars! Positive and Practical...a real pick-me-up! I read this book on my morning train ride over the course of a few days, and it was a really refreshing and motivating way to start the day. Stacey Ritz's personal story is truly inspiring, and I for one am thankful that she chose to share what she's learned about how to overcome life's challenges and have fun in the process! Her book is full of energizing quotes from talented and successful people, and she ends each chapter with reflection questions and practical steps readers can take to begin improving their lives. I think she does a great job of combining her own unique story while also offering a sort of literature review of the best books in the self-help genre. I have a feeling I'll be pulling up this book again during a future morning train ride...I felt a little more awesome just by reading it! :) " -Amazon Reader (Be Awesome: How to Live Your Best Life)
"5-Stars! This book is an inspiring and personal account that everyone should read! It goes through all of the steps that I too went through in my journey to my dream job, Work ethic, Efficiency, Accountability, Persistence and getting out of your comfort zone to name a few. Advice is given but backed up by real life situations of Stacey, definitely an awesome read! Thank you Stacey for sharing so much of you with us!" -Christina Metge, author of the Max and His Big Imagination series (Be Awesome: How to Live Your Best Life)
"This extraordinary book tells you about the author's formula to Be Awesome and to live your best life. Based on an honest approach, Stacey Ritz describes the importance of following your heart, being true to yourself, and walking the extra mile. Not only does the book emphasize the beauty of this journey called life, but it also makes you think about self-awareness and acceptance, commitment, gratitude, and how meaningful hard work really is. By reading this book, you will experience a wake-up call that might help you make your life an inspiring one." -C.S. Kaiser
"This is a perfect read for anyone who wants to improve their life and the lives of the people who they love. I am excited to read more material from this author!"-Amazon Customer
"A very tiny fraction of folks have the luxury of creating scripts for their lives....and seeing it all played out in the manner of their liking. For the rest of us, life, while serving up an endless set of challenges, sends us a very strong reminder that the hopes and dreams we hold dear may be delayed or derailed by forces beyond our control. So we are often left to make lemonade out of lemons.
That's exactly what author Stacey Ritz has done in her life. Her successful work with non-profit animal welfare advocacy has no doubt provided Ritz with the confidence and comfort of knowing she is living her passion. But reaching that enviable state has been a journey that required persistence, belief in her self and determination to squelch the volume of the voices of those naysayers that seem to lurk at the edges of every dream ready-to-be-fulfilled.
Readers who take inspiration and sustenance from the experiences of others will find much to like in this book. Ritz serves up plenty of anecdotes that deliver her message of hope and optimism in a refreshing way that escapes the varnished tropes of other books with similar subjects. She also peppers How To Live Your Best Life with a variety of interesting quotes from a wide range of sources - adding further dimension and resonance to her message."-Patricia Kutza, Co-Author of The Don't Get Me Started! Toolkit (Be Awesome: How to Live Your Best Life)
"Stacey, keep up the great work! I think your sincerity shines! So many people can relate to what you have experienced/observed/realized, only we don't have talent or courage to put it into words. Enjoying your book. Good blend of expert and personal narratives and wisdom. Boundless enthusiasm! I can hear your voice so clearly! Should be a real gift to many who are in need of a new jolt of encouragement. Nice work!"-Anne S., Amazon Customer (Be Awesome: How to Live Your Best Life)
"I love the way the book is written in the author's true voice and the examples of others...it really gives the reader a broad spectrum of information to draw from. I am really enjoying this book!" -Brandi N. (Be Awesome: How to Live Your Best Life)
"... the gateway self-help book you need to begin with. "Be Awesome" is a very well researched and thoughtfully presented conversation about YOU, the reader, that starts with Stacey’s own personal universal story of being trapped in an unrewarding, life-sucking, joy-destroying desk job. (I’ve been there. And you’ve either been there, or are there right now.)
There are great nuggets of wisdom shared in this book. For instance, finding the life you love. Paying it forward. How to work smarter. And for me, a professional comedian and improvisor, perhaps what struck the biggest chord was how to embrace failure, trial and error, and remembering to force yourself out of your comfort zone. What Stacey’s book snapped back into focus for me was that mistakes and poor choices are a necessary part of the process. And really… they’re not mistakes. They’re part of your path. You have to scrape bottom to know which way is actually up for you. Those moments in life where you feel awful? That’s because you’re not living the life you want. And that’s normal. It’s necessary. Moments of huge personal growth are often only the result of going through discomfort, hardship and yes, sometimes even personal sacrifice and pain. But those obstacles are lessons. As Stacey herself writes: “Writing this book is as much of a reminder and an encouragement for me as it is for you. I found a way to live my best life and let the rest fall into place”.
It’s also a book that reminds you that “living your best life doesn’t mean it has to be your full-time job. What brings you joy might manifest itself in the form of a hobby, a small business, a club, a non-profit… the possibilities are endless.”
And for those among you who like assignments, each chapter ends with questions for you. Like ‘The Artist’s Way”, you can track your responses and set personal goals. I found the book refreshingly non-ageist, with references and quotes from such varied sources as Vera Wang, Jay-Z, Dr. Seuss, James Dyson (the vacuum guy), Oprah, Steven Spielberg, Stephen King, Mother Theresa, Aristotle, Pinterest, Reddit, Elon Musk, Angelina Jolie, Joseph Campbell, Steve Jobs, Voltaire, The Beatles and Dita Von Teese.
Well researched, conversationally written, Be Awesome: How To Live Your Best Life is perfect for the self-help book junkie or aficionado, and perhaps the best possible gateway book for the self-help book neophyte.Read full review HERE. -Comedian, Actor, Producer, Author - Marcel St. Pierre (Be Awesome: How to Live Your Best Life)
"Excellent inspirational and motivational book! 5-Stars! This is a great inspirational book for anyone looking to have a fresh look at life and want to live it to the utmost. The book is full of wisdom and very interesting quotes that inspire you to think deeper on life and its purpose. It tackles many facets of daily life from the author's own personal experience, an experience that is shared by almost everyone. "Give it a go! I'm no stranger to self-help books. Over the years, I've read many and I know that too many fall into the "dream it, be it" category. All you need is a dream and the Universe opens up. Stacey inspires you to be your best but she also goes a step further - emphasizing the work and persistence needed to achieve your goals. It's a joyful read peppered with tales from Stacey's journey and there are some great quotes that I hadn't heard before. As a person trying to live my best life, this really spoke to me and gave me a little nudge to keep going. Highly recommended."-Avid Reader, Amazon (Be Awesome: How to Live Your Best Life)

"It's what you do in the dark that puts you in the light" This is just one of the quotes that spoke to me from this book. Stacey doesn't pretend that living your best life just happens with some affirmations and a wishful outlook - she emphasizes the need for persistence and work - yet does this with humour and joy! This book is a really good pick me up but make sure you answer the questions and put it into action - go one, be awesome! -Helen, Goodreads
